Apologies!!

So very sorry about the lack of updates here! I’ve been posting more on Facebook, but I know that site isn’t everyone’s cup of tea! I will be updating this site extensively as soon as I have decent access to power.

I am currently on the road, having left Florida on the 19th of February. I spent the weekend at my brother’s place in Alabama, then spent the night closer to Montgomery on Monday the 22nd. The storms that rolled through (and all the tornado predictions) had me hunkered down at my brother’s again on Tuesday night, and the high winds on Wednesday delayed my departure yet again. I made it up through Birmingham eventually, though, and spent the night outside Tupelo, Mississippi, at Tombigbee State Park. Thursday was spent touring Tupelo and driving down to Hattiesburg. Friday was spent perusing Pascagoula and the Gulf Coast, ending up at Buccaneer State Park for the night. I dilly-dallied a bit Saturday morning, introducing the puppy to the Gulf of Mexico, and will be in Louisiana for the next couple of days.

I was trying to make my way up to Hot Springs National Park for Monday (the 29th – Bonus Day!), which would have had me averaging one park per month for the year. That’s the reason for the lack of updates…drive, drive, drive! I gave up on that idea after hitting the Gulf Coast. It is way too friendly around here to race through town! Slowing down will give me a chance to catch up on all the updates. I knew things were going to be a bit tough to start with, since I had such a delayed departure date, but I will make it up along the route instead of all at the beginning.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any suggestions on where I should stop/eat/explore!!

Saw you in Mandeville, LA today and decided to look you up! Very cool idea! And if you’re looking for good places to eat, you’re definitely in the right place! For breakfast – Liz’s Where Y’at Diner, Mande’s, or LA Lou. For lunch, Bear’s Po-boys, The PoBoy Company, LOLA or Toad Hollow. Enjoy your stay!!

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I was in Hammond on Saturday night, and ended up eating at Lee’s Drive-In Diner (at the recommendation of just about every person inside Tractor Supply!). I back-tracked Sunday morning to take the Pontchartrain Causeway, and picked out Liz’s Where Y’At Diner for breakfast. Did take-out of their Bananas Foster Pain Perdu and a delicious fresh fruit bowl. 5 stars, for sure!

Thanks again for stopping by the page :)

Thanks for looking me up! I was on my way towards the dog park in Thibodaux (gotta exercise the puppy when I can!), and was trying to follow the Old Spanish Trail. Made some quick time along 90 – noticed that it will become an interstate at some point. Very interesting to see how they start putting the big thoroughfares into place. Veered off here and there onto 182. So much lovely scenery – I especially love all the Live Oaks and the old houses and manors in the area! Looking forward to exploring some more tomorrow.

Hello, hello :) Thanks for following along – sorry everything has been so slow on the website. I’m trying to find a good way to post on here while on the road. I think I’m getting there! Look for more frequent updates here, and just quick notes on facebook.
I’ve been quite lucky with the weather so far; well, part luck, part flexibility in the plans. I think I’ll be able to dodge some storms, but will have to hunker down and ride out the rest!
Sorry about the wintery weather over there – my cousin in Leeds posted some pics the other day and it looked absolutely frigid! So much snow! Hope you are staying warm – are you still on the road a lot?

      Take care,
      S xx
